A demo that makes encrypted search obvious

Blind Insight can query and analyze data that stays encrypted. Craft & Logic designed and built the interactive demo that lets a prospect ask a question and see the privacy guarantee in the answer — live at blindinsight.com.

Challenge

The technology was ahead of the explanation. Searchable encryption and analytics on encrypted data are easy to describe incorrectly and hard to believe from a diagram. Prospects needed to do one thing and understand what had and had not been exposed.

Approach

  1. Picked the smallest interaction that still proved the claim: a natural-language question against data that is never decrypted.

  2. Hid the machinery. The visitor sees a question and an answer; the encryption model stays in the background.

  3. Connected a language model to Blind Insight's searchable-encryption APIs so the answer comes back from encrypted fields in real time, without exposing the underlying records.

Outcome

Blind Insight can demonstrate the product by letting someone use it. The demo is a live feature on blindinsight.com, so the privacy claim is something a prospect tries instead of something they are asked to take on faith.
